Statement of Faith:
We believe In the Godship of the Lord Jesus Christ. As God’s Son, Jesus was both human and Divine.
John 1:1-5 (NIV)
The Word Became Flesh
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome[a] it.
John 1:14 (NIV)
14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Mark 2:1-8 (NIV)
Jesus Forgives and Heals a Paralyzed Man
2 A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home. 2 They gathered in such large numbers that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he preached the word to them. 3 Some men came, bringing to him a paralyzed man, carried by four of them. 4 Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on. 5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”
6 Now some teachers of the law were sitting there, thinking to themselves, 7 “Why does this fellow talk like that? He’s blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?”
8 Immediately Jesus knew in his spirit that this was what they were thinking in their hearts, and he said to them, “Why are you thinking these things? 9 Which is easier: to say to this paralyzed man, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up, take your mat and walk’? 10 But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the man, 11 “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.” 12 He got up, took his mat and walked out in full view of them all. This amazed everyone and they praised God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this!”
We Believe that in Jesus there are 2 natures in one person. He is 100% man and 100% God at the same time.
Jesus in his Divine nature forgave sinners and performed miracles during his time on earth. In His Human Nature, Jesus learned, He ate, felt emotions like human beings do, and willingly limited his power and knowledge so that he could dwell among us and carry out His mission of salvation. Though he humbled himself to be made in human likeness (Philippians 2:7), there was not a point in time where he became any less God.
When Jesus’ mission was finished on the cross and resurrection, His humility turned into God’s full Glory. Now seated at the right Hand of the Father, His Name is above all else in Heaven and in Earth.
To truly know who Jesus is, is to accept Jesus as God and to understand that the only way to receive salvation is by accepting Him as your Lord and Saviour. Reading about Jesus’ life in the Bible does not give us any room to think otherwise.
